An update on the menuet.homelinux.net
Hello folks I thought I would give you an update on whats going on with the wiki and I. As you might be aware, I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia at the end of January/beginning of February. As far as that goes.. it went into remission after the first round of chemo therapy, so I have been pretty lucky. Until the end of August, I went into the hospital for between 3 and 5 days every 3-4 weeks. Also, I was in for high fevers for about 2 weeks. Total of about 57 days there. Additionally, I had to go to the clinic(20 miles away) nearly every single day that I wasn't in the hospital.. all but about 3-5 days per month, where I would spend about 1-3 (up to 7) hours. This ussually took about 3-5 hours out of the day. I spent a lot of the rest of the time sleeping. Suffice to say, I didn't have a lot of time to do much else. This was worsened by the fact that the 32bit section of the forumer forums was deleted around that time. There was a lot of talk about taking the project on ourselves, but for the most part, everyone seemed to want to go in a different direction with the project.. which means even less productivity with menuet. Again, suffice to say, I lost interest. I tried a bit to stay involved, but things were falling apart, and I really did not want to deal with what seemed so hopeless taking up all my free time. Now, I put a bunch of work into the wiki so I wasn't just gonna drop it and put windows back on so that I could play video games(which I had been sadly missing for more than a year). It's still running. I noticed that a few of you have pointed out that The wiki was down/crappy. Actually, it was never really taken offline for more than a couple days. Someone thought it might be do to the fact that I was making updates - I wasn't. During all this, my family all chipped in and bought me a rather nice Laptop. So finally I have been able to play some video games... but that isn't what has been causing the crappy uptime on the wiki. I have been downloading lots and lots of Torrents. I can't even browse the web when I do this :/ . Fortunatly, I'm nearly done downloading the crap I want. Soon as I get my share ratio back to 1:1, all should be well. Additionally, the current webserver is going to be getting an install of Gentoo Linux, which means it WILL be taken down for about 3 days.... assuming everything goes smoothly. I will also be updating the mediaWiki software on the site. Expect this during the next week. This doesn't mean I'm interested in working on Menuet again, I'm not. I plan on also hosting a wiki for the Ion window manager. The main reason behind the fresh install is, I am working on setting up a commercial website. I have gentoo on my laptop, which will be a test bench for changes before pushing them onto the server. The site isn't ready yet, and won't be a for a whie, but when it is, I'll let you all know so you can beta test it. If that goes well, and it makes a fraction of the money I hope it will, than you can expect me to invest some money into a fatter pipe for the server (and thus the wiki) :). But this leaves a question: who will maintain the Menuet wiki? Well, if Mike.dld is still active, I would very much like for him to do it, He was very helpful with it, and even did some php work for it. Additionally, he is fluent in both English and Russian... all this makes him the ideal candidate. If he accepts, he would make the decision of whether he wants it to be Menuet or KolibriOS oriented, or if he wants, both. Thats all folks.. Thanks /Loplin

Hi Loplin, I'm very glad to hear something about you, even that you feel already better. You're right almost the whole MenuetOS and KolibriOS team has evaporated. As I see Dex4U is also out of business - don't know exactly. That's the way things have been working in MenuetOS world in the last few years: first you contribute something, after you've learned everything you just wanted to you merely help the others but no longer produce anythig useful and at the end you quit and start with something new to discover other corners of life. I wish you a speedy recovery and good luck to (and some bucks :-) from) that new project. Take care. Endre

First i hope your on the mend, i know how you feel, as i have also been ill and need a lot of hospital treatment and the last thing you need is infighting  . You need to be-leave that your putting your effort into something worth while and long lasting. You're right almost the whole MenuetOS and KolibriOS team has evaporated. As I see Dex4U is also out of business - don't know exactly. This can not be further from the truth, Dex4u is moving on and has many ex-menuet programmer program for it, see here: http://jas2o.forthworks.com/dexforum/index.php New ver should be out in about a week. As far as the Menue4u goes, than yes your right, but as Loplin pointed out, we did not want to make Dex4u compatable with a dead project. Anyway good luck with any new projects and let us know how you get on. Regards Dex.
