HELP!!!
I made a MenuetOS floppy and booted up my computer and I set up the video settings etc, and it started up: Fonts Loaded Reprogramming IRQs Setting TSSs Building gdt tss pointer Building gdt gate pointer Building interrupt table - TSS Building interrupt table - GDT Building interrupt table - IDT Building syscall interrupt table Reading CPUIDs Detecting devices Setting timer Setting mouse Setting window defaults Caulculating background Reversing IRQs & ports Setting addresses for IRQs Setting OS task Reading TSC Setting VGA 640x480 palette All set - press ESC to start Then (I assume this is all good) I press escape and nothing happens. Any help would be great.

First of, please specify MenuetOS version you've downloaded. Can't help you without this. Latest KolibriOS (ex-MenuetOS distro) version available right now: 0.5.3.0 beta 2 Latest official MenuetOS version available: 0.79 pre 1

0.97 p1

already tried it on several floppies. and yes it is the 32 bit version

Ivan Poddubny- 04-02-2006

Try KolibriOS or GridWorks distro. The "official" MenuetOS is actually dead.

mike.dld- 04-02-2006

mE As Ivan Poddubny said, just try more up-to-date distro. 0.79 is more than year old, and nobody will dig into what's wrong with it. Latest KolibriOS version is in Russian IIRC, so you may want to try GridWorks EZ distro (based on latest KolibriOS). Check how much this guy has RAM. If its an integrated video, the effectively usable RAM would be 24 or around this and MenuetOS will detect it 16MB. The other problem might be that your videmode isn't supported. This has happened a lot of times. @mE: Most probable cause is the lack of RAM.

mike.dld- 04-03-2006

Maybe it's RAM, but Kolibri boots up with 16 MB just fine. So let's wait till his answer. And if talking about unsupported videomode, there always were 2 VGA modes supported everywhere - 640x480x4 and 320x200x8.
