Curious.? Work began on what.?
Aim: To Rebuild MeOS 32 into a hybrid monolithic microkernel.
Whats that ..? Something cool.? :D
Solidus117- 06-01-2006
Rebuilding the OS. More dependance on IPC/Message passing, while still keeping some application-kernel functions that can keep the speed up (ie allocating a page of memory from the kernel managed heap)

Hey, Could you add some "right click" options/functions to the system.?? A simple screensaver.??
When it's all said and done, Will it still be super tiny like it is now.?
Thanks.... And i wish you good luck. :D

this has nothing to do with the kernel, and kolibri already has those functions, you should really at least try it once ;)

He asked for feedback, as in suggestions, Thats what i gave.

That dosen't look like a link to Kolibri OS to me, But a link for the rebuiled of menuet OS, And beside's that, I think this thread (Kernal) is for Menuet, not Kolibri.

Have you already thought of literate programming?

You could use the programs that run on kolibri to acomplish this is what i mean, you dont really need changes in the kernel ;)

" I " could..??? " I " don't..?? Well solidus 117 was asking for feedback and suggestions so thats what i did.. Whats wrong with that..??
And how would i use the programs in kolibri to do that if i don't know how to do programming.??
hidnplayr- 06-04-2006
you dont need to know how to program, you just need to know how the programs work, edit launch.mt or whatever it's called etc ;)
i can help you with that if you want ;)
the easy way: make a floppy with kolibri on it and replace the kernel by the original menuetos one
(i dont see any profits here but it's possible...)

I don't think he was trying to be rude Solidus, I think he used a poor choice of words.. :)

google -> "literate programming"
hidnplayr- 06-05-2006
I believe that the time is ripe for significantly better documentation of programs, and that we can best achieve this by considering programs to be works of literature. Hence, my title: "Literate Programming."
Let us change our traditional attitude to the construction of programs: Instead of imagining that our main task is to instruct a computer what to do, let us concentrate rather on explaining to human beings what we want a computer to do.
....
jason: if you want to try kolibri, download this http://www.kolibri.hut1.ru/k0530b2.7z it's a 7-zip file you can unpack with winrar/winace/7-zip/...
it contains a image of the diskette wich you can write to a floppy using for example winimage.
if you want the kernel in english, you'll have to recompile it (dont worry, you dont need to know to program)
the sources for the kernel: http://www.kolibri.hut1.ru/k0530b2src.7z unpack it and run build_en.bat, it will build the english kernel wich you then can copy to your floppy (kernel.mnt)
hope this helps ;) (btw, i asumed you're using windows..)
EDIT: if you want, I can e-mail you an .exe that will write the floppy with english kolibri.

T4 seems to be the best idea i've heard in a long time. Hope it goes well!
