Sure, not sure if there just 16 bit though ! :? Try looking here.. www.puppylinux.org www.shipit.ubuntu.com For free ubuntu breezy badger cd's ( while they last ) www.freedos.org Then google ( or whatever ) search for the seal gui or desktop 2 gui www.damnsmall_linux.org :D :D

If i remember correctly, ubuntu, puppy and DSL will not work on a 286, it only supports 386 and newer. Freedos should work. You could also try ELKS if you want linux.

elks is almost the same as minix :( and it is not very usefull... It's strange, I thought that there were more operative systems for the 286... this means that every 286 in the world has a Microsoft product inside?? wow... :( ...I know... there was an IBM DOS, and FreeDOS... but it's still DOS... the real mode operative system... wich is not bad, but I want to use all the processor functions :P hehehehe Protected mode was the best thing you could get on those day Thanks a lot for your reply :)

besides I'm conected to the internet trough an USB modem, and the 286 is connected to the lan trough the Parallel port ;)

Make your own OS, and use BIOS interrupts for most hardware access to shorten the dev time...?

hehehe that's exactly what I was thinking, but first I have to learn more about assembler... I was looking at the MSN project and I started to write it from scracth, I was able to send and receive information from the server but I couldn't test it, my Macronix 987xx chip is not supported and I wasn't able to make my own driver... I have read the existing drivers and the documentation, but I need to understand everything to be able to port it to menuetOS... and honestly, I learned that my head is not ready hehehehe anyway, I'll try to look in another project before starting my own OS... that's a really big step, and I'm sure I'm not ready Thanks anyway :)
